Sheffield South East stays Labour

Clive Betts has been returned to the House of Commons with a slightly decreased majority after triumphing over the Conservatives in Sheffield South East.

Speaking to supporters at Sheffield’s English Institute of Sport after the result was declared, he said: “They have sent me back with a clear message to oppose the cuts to the NHS, to our Councils, and to our schools, and to give the police officers the resources to keep us safe.”

Betts, who entered Parliament in 1992 secured a majority of around 12,000 over Tory candidate Lindsay Cawrey.
